This proprietary technology is totally unique in the mattress market, and sets our beds apart from memory foam, springs, and adjustable air mattresses. Backed by over 20 years of rigorous testing, the iconic purple geometric grid made of hyper-elastic polymer provides cushioning comfort and pressure relief while simultaneously maintaining support. It instantly adapts as you move, reconfiguring itself to relieve pressure and provide alignment where your body needs it most.  

Based on our years of testing, here’s what we’ve found: memory foam fails to provide the necessary support or comfort needed throughout the night and also sleeps hot. Spring mattresses don’t relieve pressure and cause a great deal of motion transfer, not to mention the squeaking. Adjustable air mattresses force your hand (and neck, back, and shoulders) with “hard bed problems” or “soft bed problems” — an impossible decision to say the least. By contrast, the GelFlex® Grid cradles your shape for that cloud-like feel while delivering the support that equals ache-free, restorative sleep.  

Because of the GelFlex® Grid at the core of each Purple mattress, both the Soft and Firm models instantly adapt to your individual shape and offer excellent support. Each mattress has been specially designed to achieve the firmness level of your choosing, along with the support you need.   

While you won’t feel like you’re sleeping on a grid of squares, Purple mattresses may feel a little different than what you’re accustomed to — at least at first. Just as a chiropractor works to restore healthy body posture and alignment, the GelFlex® is designed to do the same. We highly recommend sleeping at least 21 nights on your Purple mattress in order to adjust and experience healthy, restorative sleep for body and mind.  

Not all foundations, frames and bases are created equal which is why we’ve designed a collection of products that work synergistically with Purple mattresses, to provide you with your best sleep for years to come.  

Platform Bed Frame: Lightweight and simple with ample storage space underneath, this frame holds up to 2,000 lbs. and is designed to prevent squeaking.   

Purple Bed Frame: An upholstered, platform-style foundation and headboard that enhances the comfort and support of your Purple mattress.  

Adjustable Bases: The Premium Smart Base and Premium Plus Smart Base let you fully customize your position whether you’re sleeping, sitting, working or relaxing with adjustable head and foot sections for premium comfort.  

If you opt for an option outside of Purple, make sure your foundation is made from wood or metal with slats that are less than 3 inches apart and a weight capacity of 650+ lbs.

Absolutely. We want you to rest easy with Purple which is why we offer free returns within 100 nights if you don’t love your mattress. We do ask all customers to spend at least 21 nights on their mattress before starting a return or exchange so their bodies have enough time to adjust to Purple’s unique feel and support. If you’ve tested out your new mattress for 21 days and you’re within the 100-night trial period, reach out to our Care Team at 1-888-848-2305 to schedule pick up. Upon sending proof of receipt issued at pick-up, we will initiate a full refund that may take up to 10 days to turnaround from financial institutions. The temperature control of Purple mattresses was highly tested and engineered to ensure a cool breathability — a key factor for sound sleep. Through thermal tests and heat flux research, the Premium Collection was proven up to 4x more effective at removing excess body heat compared to competitors. The GelFlex Grid's proprietary temperature-neutral material combined with its unique open column design includes over a thousand air channels to naturally draw excess heat away so our mattresses don’t sleep hot. In the Purple Restore, a layer of Comfort Foam paired with a coil core also work to diffuse heat that other mattresses tend to harbor.
